Why is Cardboard a Good Insulator For Ice Water
Insulating Ice water is one of the more tricky things to do. The whole aspect of something getting wet might lead the user to believe cardboard is not the way to go, but perhaps it just might be.
Why is cardboard a good insulator for ice water? By itself it is not, but if added to bubble wrap or some other item it can be. Certain coated pieces of cardboard can handle some moisture. For example UV coated paper or if the cardboard is coated with a plastic. If the user is not careful the cardboard will indeed tear or rot. The base of the cardboard such as when using a cup should also be a water consuming element such as foam or a fabric of some type.
If the user does indeed decide to go with cardboard as their insulator for ice water just keep in mind cardboard can only do so much by itself.
