Martha Stewart has had the midas touch most of her career.  In 1990, she developed Martha Stewart Living magazine from an in initial circualation of 250,000 to more than 2 million by 2002.  During this time period sher became a frequent contributor to the CBS Early show, which lead to several prime time holiday specials. 

Then in 1997 she was able to secure funding to consolidate all of the varous media using her name an place them all under the veil of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.  She became the chairperson and was made a billionaire with the IPO. 

In 2004 Martha was sent to prison for a securities violation.  Even in prison, Martha thrived.  She made several friendships with other inmates, and used her time to write another book.  After she completed her time she got right back on her horse and took the reigns of her company. 

In my mind, Martha Stewart is a true icon that stood strong through a ridiculous and failed attempt to make an example out of her.  Success is a unique personality attribute.  No matter what the situation, she thrives.
